Das Streben der Menschheit nach Farbe reicht bis in pr\u00e4historische Zeiten zur\u00fcck; bereits vor \u00fcber 60.000 Jahren verwendeten die Menschen nat\u00fcrlichen Ocker als Farbstoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Strukturell bestehen Pigmente aus winzigen Farbpartikeln, die aus Molek\u00fclen mit spezifischen Kristallstrukturen gebildet werden. Sie sind unl\u00f6slich in Wasser, \u00d6l, L\u00f6sungsmitteln und Harzen, k\u00f6nnen aber in diesen Medien gleichm\u00e4\u00dfig dispergiert werden. Ihre F\u00e4rbung ergibt sich aus optischen Ph\u00e4nomenen wie Lichtreflexion, -streuung, -absorption oder -transmission durch die Pigmentteilchen. H\u00f6hlenmalereien von vor Zehntausenden von Jahren verwendeten bereits nat\u00fcrliche Materialien wie Holzkohle, Ocker, Manganbraun und Kaolin. Um 2000 v. Chr. begannen die Menschen, nat\u00fcrliche Erze gemischt mit Manganerz zu brennen, um rote, violette und schwarze Farbt\u00f6ne f\u00fcr T\u00f6pferwaren herzustellen. Orpiment und Orpimentit geh\u00f6rten zu den ersten leuchtend gelben Pigmenten, w\u00e4hrend Ultramarin und \u00c4gyptisch Blau fr\u00fche blaue Farbt\u00f6ne darstellten. Gr\u00fcnt\u00f6ne wurden aus Gr\u00fcnspan und Malachit gewonnen. Die Renaissance brachte neue Entwicklungen, wie die Einf\u00fchrung von Karmin aus Mexiko nach Europa, gefolgt vom Aufkommen von Kobaltblau und kobaltblauem Glas. Ab dem 18. Jahrhundert kamen nach und nach industriell hergestellte Pigmente wie Preu\u00dfischblau, Kobaltblau und Chromgelb auf. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurden Chromgr\u00fcn sowie Pigmente auf Eisenoxid- und Cadmiumbasis entwickelt. Im 20. Jahrhundert beschleunigte sich die Forschung und es entstanden synthetische Rotpigmente, Manganblau, Molybd\u00e4nrot und Mischoxide auf Wismutbasis. Gleichzeitig gewannen Wei\u00dfpigmente wie Rutil- und Anatas-Titandioxid und nadelf\u00f6rmiges Zinkoxid an Bedeutung, ebenso wie Effektpigmente, die Metall-, Perlglanz- und Interferenzfarben erzeugen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prim\u00e4re Anwendungen von Pigmenten<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pigmente werden in zahlreichen Branchen eingesetzt, darunter Beschichtungen, Kunststoffe, Gummi, Kosmetika, Textilien, Keramik und k\u00fcnstlerische Zementf\u00e4rbung.
