Le pitture rupestri di decine di migliaia di anni fa utilizzavano gi\u00e0 materiali naturali come il carbone, l'ocra, il marrone di manganese e il caolino. Intorno al 2000 a.C., l'uomo ha iniziato a cuocere minerali naturali mescolati con manganese per produrre tinte rosse, viola e nere per la ceramica. L'orpimento e l'orpimentite furono tra i primi pigmenti gialli vividi, mentre l'oltremare e il blu egiziano rappresentarono le prime tonalit\u00e0 di blu. Il Rinascimento port\u00f2 nuovi sviluppi, come l'introduzione del carminio dal Messico in Europa, seguito dalla comparsa del blu cobalto e del vetro blu cobalto. A partire dal XVIII secolo, comparvero gradualmente pigmenti prodotti industrialmente come il blu di Prussia, il blu di cobalto e il giallo cromo. Il XIX secolo vide lo sviluppo di pigmenti a base di verde cromo, ossido di ferro e cadmio. Il XX secolo ha visto un'accelerazione della ricerca, che ha prodotto pigmenti rossi sintetici, blu di manganese, rosso molibdeno e ossidi misti a base di bismuto. La scelta del tipo di pigmento appropriato \u00e8 fondamentale e richiede una valutazione completa delle sue prestazioni, degli effetti e del rapporto costo-efficacia per sfruttarne i punti di forza e mitigarne i punti deboli per un utilizzo ottimale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Categorie di pigmenti<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I pigmenti possono essere classificati in tre categorie principali: pigmenti organici, pigmenti inorganici e pigmenti ad effetto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>- Pigmenti organici: <\/strong>Questi includono, tra gli altri, i pigmenti azoici, i pigmenti
