Het streven van de mensheid naar kleur gaat terug tot de prehistorie; meer dan 60.000 jaar geleden gebruikten mensen al natuurlijke oker als kleurstof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Structureel bestaan pigmenten uit kleine gekleurde deeltjes gevormd door moleculen met specifieke kristalstructuren. Ze zijn onoplosbaar in water, olie, oplosmiddelen en harsen, maar kunnen wel uniform worden gedispergeerd in deze media. Hun kleur ontstaat door optische verschijnselen zoals lichtreflectie, verstrooiing, absorptie of transmissie door de pigmentdeeltjes. Bijgevolg hebben de grootte van de kristaldeeltjes en de kristalstructuur een cruciale invloed op de kleurexpressie. Het is belangrijk op te merken dat pigmenten verschillen van kleurstoffen: kleurstoffen zijn meestal oplosbaar in water of oplosmiddelen en worden voornamelijk gebruikt voor het verven van textiel, terwijl pigmenten in gedispergeerde vorm worden gebruikt. Er bestaan echter uitzonderingen, zoals bepaalde onoplosbare kleurstoffen en pigmenten die geschikt zijn voor textieldruk en verven in oplossing, waardoor het onderscheid tussen de twee vervaagt. Grottekeningen van tienduizenden jaren geleden maakten al gebruik van natuurlijke materialen zoals houtskool, oker, mangaanbruin en kaolien. Rond 2000 v. Chr. begonnen mensen natuurlijke ertsen gemengd met mangaanerts te bakken om rode, paarse en zwarte tinten voor aardewerk te produceren. Orpiment en orpimentiet behoorden tot de eerste levendige gele pigmenten, terwijl ultramarijn en Egyptisch blauw de vroege blauwe tinten vertegenwoordigden. Groenen werden afgeleid van verdigris en malachiet. De Renaissance bracht nieuwe ontwikkelingen, zoals de introductie van karmijn uit Mexico naar Europa, gevolgd door de opkomst van kobaltblauw en kobaltblauw glas. Vanaf de 18e eeuw verschenen er geleidelijk industrieel geproduceerde pigmenten zoals Pruisisch blauw, kobaltblauw en chroomgeel. In de 19e eeuw werden chroomgroene, op ijzeroxide en cadmium gebaseerde pigmenten ontwikkeld. In de 20e eeuw kwam het onderzoek in een stroomversnelling, wat resulteerde in synthetische rode pigmenten, mangaanblauw, molybdeenrood en gemengde oxiden op basis van bismut. Tegelijkertijd wonnen witte pigmenten zoals rutiel en anataas titaniumdioxide en naaldvormig zinkoxide aan belang, naast effectpigmenten die metallic, parelmoer en interferentiekleuren produceren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Primaire toepassingen van pigmenten<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pigmenten worden op grote schaal gebruikt in diverse industrie\u00ebn, waaronder coatings, kunststoffen, rubber, cosmetica, textiel, keramiek en artistieke cementkleuren. Hun toepassingen blijven zich uitbreiden naar nieuwe gebieden zoals cosmetica, voedingsmiddelen, kleefstoffen en elektrostatisch kopi\u00ebren. Het kiezen van het juiste type pigment is cruciaal en vereist een uitgebreide evaluatie van de prestaties, effecten en kosteneffectiviteit om de sterke punten te benutten en de zwakke punten te verminderen voor optimaal gebruik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Categorie\u00ebn van pigmenten<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pigmenten kunnen grofweg worden ingedeeld in drie hoofdcategorie\u00ebn: organische pigmenten, anorganische pigmenten en effectpigmenten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>- Organische pigmenten: <\/strong>Deze omvatten onder andere azopigmenten, polycyclische pigmenten en metaalcomplexen, en kunnen verder worden onderverdeeld op basis van chemische structuur;<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>- Anorganische pigmenten: <\/strong>omvatten bismutvanadaat, chromaten, chroomoxiden, ijzeroxiden, titaandioxide, koolstofzwart, zinkverbindingen (zinkoxide, zinksulfide), ultramarijn, ijzerblauw (Pruissisch blauw, Chinees blauw) en hybride
