Want a dreamy and unique manicure? Today, I’ll teach you how to create a stunning “Colorful Butterfly” manicure. Follow the steps and you’ll easily achieve the same look!
Step 1: Apply a black base coat
First, take out black gel polish (I’m using my go-to, CHROMÉCLAIR’s HEMA-free Gel Polish products No. 03; the color is clear, flows easily, and is non-toxic and healthy!) and apply an even coat to your nails. This step allows for the subsequent colors and effects to appear better, providing a solid base for the entire manicure.
Step 2: Layer Cat’s Eye Gel Polish
Next, choose a white or silver cat’s eye gel polish (I used CHROMÉCLAIR’s HEMA-free Gel Polish products No. 437) and apply a layer over the black base. Once this layer is dry, use a cat’s eye magnet to remove the shine. This will allow you to create the texture later.
Step 3: Draw lines with a line drawing pen
Take out a line drawing pen and, starting at the corner of your nail, draw lines in the desired direction. Don’t aim for perfectly regular lines; just draw a variety of long and short lines to create a natural, sunlight-like effect on your nails.
Step 4: Light Draw and Shape (without lighting)
Use a magnet to stick the cat-eye light to the middle of your nail. Important: Do not use lighting for this step.
Then apply another coat of gel polish and repeat the process of covering the light to the middle. This will make the manicure more layered, as if light and shadow are flowing on the nails.
Step 5: Layering Translucent Glue + Strengthening
After curing under the lamp, select several transparent glues and apply them one by one to your nails to create a richer and more diverse color.
Then apply a layer of reinforcing glue to wrap the previous nail art effect, which not only protects the nail art but also makes the overall look more textured.
Step 6: Butterfly Stamping & Seal
Use a butterfly stamping tool and stamp a butterfly pattern on the desired area of your nail (for detailed instructions on how to use the stamp, refer to my plaid stamping manicure tutorial). You can also add a small butterfly for added detail.
Apply a seal coat to all nails and shine them under a lamp to make the manicure longer-lasting and more lustrous.
